JFC Budget Listening Sessions

This is your opportunity to be heard about the new state budget. Joint Finance Committee meetings are being held around the state over the next two weeks. In Western Wisconsin the best opportunity is the meeting in River Falls which is detailed here.

ballot

When it comes to the political division between Republicans and Democrats, elections for Wisconsin Supreme Court often appear quite similar to races for the Legislature or Congress or governor or even President, even though these seats are technically non-partisan. Leaders or Followers?

Senator Jeff Smith

As leaders and policy makers in Wisconsin it is our job to ensure that our state government and operations run smoothly. Our agencies must be funded properly, people must be paid and projects should be moving forward in a timely fashion. It doesn’t need to be complicated. There are processes in place that have worked for decades.

Vote!

Election time once again is sneaking up on us all. This is our regular reminder to go out and vote on Tuesday. There are multiple interesting elections going on in the Chippewa Valley. In Menomonie there is a hotly contested School Board election, with six candidates running for three seats. If you do not think your vote matters, please remember that last year one of the Menomonie School Board candidates lost by three votes. One of those votes might have been yours.

As is obvious from the video, I did not always win that battle, but bear with that. There are two interviews, one with Julian Castro and one with Amy Klobuchar.
