Gov. Evers Announces Second Package of Comprehensive Legislative Proposals Providing COVID-19 Relief and Support

Today Governor Tony Evers announced a second proposed legislative package of solutions for COVID-19 relief. The Governor released a first package several days ago including additional funding and flexibility for public health professionals and healthcare professionals, a repeal of the one-week waiting period for unemployment insurance, expanding and improving access to telehealth services, among many other proposals.  

Number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Wisconsin increases by 200


The current number of Covid-19 confirmed cases is 1551 according to new statistics from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. This is an increase of 200 over yesterday. The number of deaths increased by 9, partly because the reporting from Milwaukee County, the hardest-hit county in the state, seems to have been delayed for a few days. At times the number of deaths reported by county coroners is higher than the official state aggregate numbers.

Wisconsin Supreme Court orders Dane County Clerk to stop indefinitely confined rule

The Wisconsin Supreme Court Tuesday ordered that Dane County Clerk Scott McDonald cannot advise all voters they could qualify as indefinitely confined because of the state’s “Safer at Home” emergency order.

Voting Absentee? Send that ballot in now!

If you have obtained an absentee ballot, you should be aware that the ballots must be received at your polling place by 8 PM on election day. It is not sufficient to have your ballot postmarked by the election. Although there is litigation and some political wrangling underway to loosen that restriction, the law still requires that your ballot arrive by election day.

Third confirmed Covid-19 case in Dunn County

The third case of Covid-19 infection has been reported in Dunn County. According to Dunn County Public Health Director KT Gallagher, the third case is from close contact with the second case which was reported last week. Both cases are connected to close contact in the region and is not a case of community spread.

Today's official report from Wisconsin DHS shows 1221 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths. The expectation from DHS is that it will be another 10-12 days before we start to see this leveling off as a result of social distancing measures.
