It's always something - and then there's the weather

So it's the tech week from - er - heck here. Beyond the normal pile of slightly-unexpected tech issues, at the moment our VPS supplier tells us they're having some internet stability into our data center. I've noticed a few periods when we've dropped off the web, which has made life interesting. Add that to the fact that I had to fix 2 different laptops this week, power outages in the area, and a quick drop into the deep freeze starting tonight, it's been quite a week.

Well, it's been a week of surprises. I've been trying to shape up some of the behavior of the web site in preparation for doing a complete site upgrade and tuning the server performance. In the process, I managed to forget that I'd left the server in an odd mode while I was debugging something, and the upshot is that this morning it completely ran itself out of memory. The technical term in the system administration for this is "Httpd faw down go boom".

WisCommunity is published by Steve Hanson, who is the primary employee at the moment. We are working on expanding our staff and may be taking on an intern and perhaps a part-time employee soon. WisCommunity is involved in a consortium of concerned citizens of Dunn County working toward building a more sustainable news environment.
