Budget Bill Heading to Governor's Desk

The Wisconsin State Senate has passed the GOP Budget Bill and it is now heading to Gov. Tony Evers desk for signature. The bill passed 17-16 this afternoon, with two GOP Senators joining all of the Democrats in voting no.

One of the topics of conversation in this week's Menomonie School Board meeting was making the board's activities more transparent. We started video taping the school board meetings because of some issues of transparency raised by some of our readers. The school board is currently considering multiple ways that the board can make its activities clearer to the Menomonie citizens.

Chippewa Valley CWD Advisory Committee seeks input

The Chippewa Valley CWD Advisory Committee is seeking input from the public on their proposed CWD Surveillance Recommendations. These recommendations would require testing of deer killed in the surveillance area, and would require in-person registration of these deer. This would include portions of Dunn, Eau Claire, and Pepin counties. More specifically the area is Rock Creek, Albany, Brunswick, Drammen, Pleasant Valley,, and portions of Washington township.

Two weeks ago, the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) passed their version of the state budget 12 to 4, along party lines. The full Senate scheduled a vote this week on the budget, a vote that may demonstrate the true callousness of politics in our state.

LWV - WISCONSIN SUPREME COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF UNDEMOCRATIC LEGISLATIVE PRACTICES

MADISON – Today, the Wisconsin Supreme Court reversed a lower court decision against the Wisconsin Legislature, restoring the laws enacted during the Legislature’s undemocratic lame-duck session. We are disappointed in and respectfully disagree with the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss the case and fails to address the ways in which the Legislature violated the Wisconsin Constitution in convening the December 2018 Extraordinary Session.

I'll have a little to write about from the vacation, notably about Amtrak and where they are going, along with a narrative of taking the Lake Shore Limited, and how that particular train is going.

Wisconsin is filled with beauty. Sometimes we take our state’s beauty for granted because it’s very apparent all around us. It’s always the less apparent beauty that surprises us and compels us to look deeper in ourselves and appreciate everything around us.
