Boyceville bank robbed - update

Boyceville police report that the Peoples State Bank in Boyceville was robbed this morning and that both of the Boyceville schools are in a precautionary lockdown. Further details when they are available.

Boyceville police are asking for help in identifying and locating the suspect in this robbery. These are the photos released by the department. The school lockdown ended after a few hours.

UW Stout student found dead

In an email sent to students and faculty today, UW Stout announced that a student had been found dead on campus. 18-year-old Haaris Ameen was from Rochester, MN and was a first year computer and engineering student. No foul play is suspected, and the death is under investigation. Social media posts today indicated that he was found unresponsive in his bed this morning.

Gov. Evers declares tornado path a disaster area

Governor Evers has signed Executive Order 47 which declares Chippewa, Dunn, and Clark counties as a disaster area due to the storm and tornado damage this week. This order follows Evers' visit to the Chippewa Valley on Wednesday, where he inspected the damage personally. 

The order directs state agencies to aid in recovery in the counties and also allows deployment of  the Wisconsin National Guard.

Considerable damage occurred in the Elk Mound and Town of Wheaton areas due to the storm and tornado last night. Reports came in throughout the evening of semis blown over on Highway 29, trailer homes that were turned over, and some more serious damage.
