The School District of the Menomonie Area will have a primary election for school board during the February state primary on Feb. 21, 2023. Seven candidates filed election papers before the Jan. 3 election deadline. The three incumbent candidates whose seats are up for election are running again - Amy Riddle-Swanson, Charlie Schneider (current board president), and Dale Dahlke.

Starting this evening WisCommunity will again start doing a live stream of more government meetings. My apologies for the video pixellation and the sometimes poor audio quality on this stream. I had some odd hardware problems on this one, and partly just from lack of practice since I've not been doing these streams for months. There are a few issues to straighten out.

The eight candidates for the school board of the Menomonie Area have accepted an invitation from League of Woman Voters – Greater Chippewa Valley, in partnership with the Menomonie Area Chamber of Commerce, to participate in an online candidate forum on Tuesday, February 2, 7 to 9 pm.

The primary election will be February 16, where voters will vote for three candidates. The top six vote getters will go on to the general election on April 6, where the three winners will be selected.

The stream started late here because the stream from the district ran on a different channel on the CESA platform than was in the agenda.

In order to provide sufficient physical distancing, in-person attendance for the public Board meeting will be limited to 25 people. It is anticipated that there will be 14 spaces available for members of the public.

Note that WisCommunity will not be providing live streams of the school board meetings for the time being since the board is meeting in person and we have decided that we will no longer attend in-person government meetings until the pandemic subsides. Many of our readers have been following the live streams of the Menomonie School Board meetings. We've been providing this live stream because we think that schools are important to the public, and because the school board is one of the very few government entities that has been meeting in person rather than virtually since the pandemic started.

In accordance with the guidelines from the Dunn County Health Department, in-person attendance for the public Board meeting will be limited to 25 people. It is anticipated that there will be 14 spaces available for members of the public. The meeting will also be live-streamed on this page, Facebook Live, and YouTube.
