Mareya Sigala Valdez speaks about detention camps at Families Belong Together

July 1, 2019

This speech is by community organizer Mareya Sigala Valdez as she spoke about the detention camps at the border and her experience working at them. I apologize for the fact that we only have audio of this speech, but due to the heat at the event we were having some problems with the video cameras overheating in the sunlight. With or without the video, this is worth listening to.

If they can't persuade an immigration judge to let them stay in the country, the government will deport them.

Keep Families Together Eau Claire

June 30, 2018

Over 500 people came to Wilson Park in Eau Claire today to protest the border policies of the Trump administration, particularly the separation of families. This is a quick edit of the entire event, the speeches, and the brief march afterward. The speakers brought a powerful message about immigrants, fairness, and the reality of what immigrants face coming to the United States today.

More information is available at the link below, and we'll try to keep the calendar event page up to date.

There is also a recently-announced march in Menomonie at 10:00 AM at the Clock Tower Plaza.
