Several hundred people participated in a silent vigil at Phoenix Park on Monday, June 1. The organizers of the vigil also gathered supplies to send to people in need in Minneapolis due to the protests in the city. The vigil was moving, completely silent, and very peaceful. This was one of many protests and vigils in the area in the past week since George Floyd was killed by the police in Minneapolis.

United States Attorney Erica H. MacDonald today announced a federal criminal complaint against MATTHEW LEE RUPERT, 28, charging him with civil disorder, carrying on a riot, and possession of unregistered destructive devices. RUPERT, who was taken into federal custody earlier today in Chicago, Illinois, will make his initial appearance later today before Chief Judge Rebecca R. Pallmeyer in U.S. District Court in Chicago, Illinois.

Governor Walz of Minnesota has just announced that he is putting Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison in charge of the George Floyd case, replacing Hennepin County prosecutor Mike Freeman. Ellison will now lead the criminal prosecution in the case, assisted by Freeman. The governor stated that this change was at least partly due to a request from Floyd's family. This is an evolving story.

Peaceful protests are building again in Minneapolis - One thing to note is that the Interstates in the Cities are once again closed as of 5 PM.
