Remember to Vote on Tuesday

April 1, 2018 - 5:34pm

Wisconsin has two critical state-wide items on the ballot on Tuesday April 3.

We are having a very contentious Supreme Court race pitting two different candidates with very different styles against each other. Most voters are likely to make their decision based on the different beliefs the candidates have about whether the Constitution must be interpreted from the eyes of the founding fathers (Screnock) or that it is a living document (Dallet). The candidates of course have other differences in background and viewpoint. If you did not get a chance to watch the debate between Rebecca Dallet and Michael Screnock, it's

There is also a state-wide referendum on the elimination of the State Treasurer position. Although the role of the State Treasurer has been reduced through the last several administrations in Wisconsin, this publication does not believe that the office should be eliminated, but that some of the previous responsibilites of the office should be restored. Over time most of these responsibilities have migrated to other parts of the government, primarily the Department of Administration.  We believe there is a strong role to be played by the Treasurer's office in serving as a fiscal watchdog for the state, and that eliminating the office will leave the rest of the already-one-party government free of fiscal control.

However you vote, please be sure to go out and do it if you have not already voted. Your vote is more important than ever in these divisive times.
