Wisconsin Farmers Union President Darin Von Ruden has offered the following statement in response to Governor Evers' 2020 State of the State address:

Wisconsin Farmers Union applauds Governor Tony Evers for focusing on support for struggling farmers in his 2020 State of the State address. The decline in the number of Wisconsin dairy farms over the past four years has been staggering – in 2019 alone, Wisconsin lost 10% of its dairy farms. Wisconsin Farmers Union looks forward to working with Governor Evers and the legislature to advance both short- and long-term solutions to the current farm crisis.

Wisconsin Farmers Union is also deeply encouraged by the governor’s announcement of a nonpartisan redistricting commission. Our members have consistently prioritized ending gerrymandering as a top legislative issue. We commend Governor Evers for this emphasis on drawing legislative maps that respect existing political boundaries, keep communities together, and boost accountability to voters.
