Gov. Tony Evers today signed Executive Order , declaring an energy emergency in the state of Wisconsin. Due to the below-average temperatures, snow, and ice storms throughout the state leading up to February, deliveries of petroleum and propane products shipped by truck, barge, and particularly rail are limited.

Update - according to the Dunn County Sheriff's Office, Aryanna Lee has been found, so they thank the community for their help and no further assistance is needed.

The Dunn County Sheriff's Office is seeking information about the disappearance of a 15-year-old from Downing, WI. According to the sheriff's press release:

Walgreens announces vaccine availability - site promptly crashes

The Walgreens website is now functioning and it is possible to look up the availability of appointments. In my case the site said no appointments are available currently in Menomonie.

Another update -- the site is back in "updates in progress" mode. My guess is that not a lot of appointments will be made any time soon.

Update -- the website is functioning again, but attempts to schedule an appointment are still failing.

Gov. Evers, DHS Announce First Community-Based Vaccination Clinic in Rock County to Open February 16

Gov. Tony Evers today with the Department of Health Services (DHS) announced today a new partnership with AMI Expeditionary Healthcare. AMI will help expand vaccine accessibility across the state by operating community-based vaccination clinics. After careful consideration and identifying local health needs, DHS has selected Rock County to be the site of the first clinic currently scheduled to open February 16.

Sorry about this -- it's a little difficult to re-purpose the video streams from the school district and I had a lot of trouble getting this one going, much less with enough volume to actually hear it. Let's hope that the pandemic will settle down enough so that I feel like we can live-stream these ourselves. The stream here starts about 15 minutes into the meeting.

Gov Evers proposes legalizing marijuana

Governor Tony Evers is proposing legalizing marijuana in the state and taking some of the tax proceeds to pay for equity initiatives and rural schools. In this budget proposal the governor expects revenues of $165 million per year to the state starting in fiscal year 2023.

This is the weekly COVID-19 update for Dunn County with Dunn County Public Health Administrator KT Gallagher.  At this time 8% of the residents of Dunn County have been vaccinated, and 11% have been vaccinated state-wide.

Eau Claire COVID testing site closed due to weather

February 5, 2021
The National Guard COVID-19 testing site at Peace Church, 501 E. Filmore Ave., Eau Claire will be closed on Saturday, February 6th and Monday February 8th due to extreme cold temperatures.

It's always something - and then there's the weather

So it's the tech week from - er - heck here. Beyond the normal pile of slightly-unexpected tech issues, at the moment our VPS supplier tells us they're having some internet stability into our data center. I've noticed a few periods when we've dropped off the web, which has made life interesting. Add that to the fact that I had to fix 2 different laptops this week, power outages in the area, and a quick drop into the deep freeze starting tonight, it's been quite a week.

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today reacted to the passage of Assembly Bill (AB) 1, which was passed after Republicans abandoned compromise legislation that passed the Wisconsin State Senate with bipartisan support. A previous bipartisan version of AB 1 had received the governor’s support, signaling he would sign that version if Republicans sent it to his desk.
