Wakanda Waterpark closed for 2020

The city of Menomonie has announced that the Wakanda Waterpark will not open for the 2020 season due to the pandemic and financial concerns that it could not be operated without a great loss while still protecting people using the waterpark.

Passes that have been already purchased for the park for this season will be refunded automatically.

We have resumed producing video of the Menomonie School Board meetings. Meetings in the future will be live-streamed and available here, on Facebook Live, and on YouTube Live.

At this week's meeting the board and Administrator Joe Zydowsky announced some of the plans for re-opening from the COVID-19 pandemic, and the current plans for Phase I, which will involve re-opening of the district's facilities to the public. They have been closed since the start of the pandemic.

Dunn County releases new Health Alert for COVID-19

Dunn County Public Health Director KT Gallagher today released a new Health Alert for the COVID-19 pandemic. Health Alert 2, issued today, is very similar to the health alert issued on June 2, but increases the size of gatherings that are advised under the alert. The previous alert had recommended indoor gatherings be limited to 10 people, and outdoor gatherings limited to 20.

In the 155 years since the Emancipation Proclamation was read to freed slaves, many Americans have believed our country simply fixed its biased attitudes and racist behavior.

Person recovered from the Chippewa River identified

The Dunn County Sheriff's office has sent out a press release that a body has been recovered from the Chippewa River upstream o the railroad bridge in the Town of Dunn. The call came in at 9:54 AM today, and the Sheriff's Office and Medical Examiner responded at the scene. 

An autopsy is being conducted at the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office in Minnesota.

Gov. Evers Announces $40 Million in Financial Assistance to Hospitals to Help With COVID-19 Losses

MADISON – Gov. Tony Evers today announced hospitals across Wisconsin will receive direct payments from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) to assist with lost revenue and expenses they’ve incurred related to the COVID-19 pandemic in March, April, and May 2020. DHS will distribute these payments from $40 million of funding provided to Wisconsin under the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Gov. Evers Appoints State Representative Chris Taylor to Dane County Circuit Court

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department today issued a new local health order that takes effect at midnight tonight. Now permitted in this new order are indoor public gatherings of up to 50 people and up to 100 people in outdoor public gatherings. One-on-one personal service providers are recommended to not exceed 20 clients per day.

Micon Downtown Budget opens Friday

The Micon Cinemas have announced that the Downtown Budget Theater in Eau Claire will open this Friday, June 12. Since there currently are no new films available due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the theater will be showing older movies, and at a ticket price of $3. This week's films are Forrest Gump, Midway, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and the original Superman (1978) film.
