Recently, someone highlighted for me that I’ve spent a lot of my school board campaign talking about teachers, and talking about respect. I thought I’d put some of my thoughts down to elaborate on those topics.

The following is my opinion as a taxpayer in the School District and a School Board Member. I am expressing my opinion only, not the opinion of the entire board or any other individual board member.

Why as a School Board Member I voted against the resolution. – It’s all about respect and representing our community well.

We appreciate and stand in solidarity with our Asian Americans and Pacific Islander friends and neighbors. We condemn anti-Asian American and Pacific Islander racism, hate crimes, and violence. We acknowledge both the interpersonal and structural racism and violence our Asian American and Pacific Islander community members face in their daily lives and we stand with them.

The School District of the Menomonie Area (SDMA) is rapidly falling financially behind due to the private school voucher system that is taking increasingly larger amounts of money directly off the top of our state aids. 

My three primary concerns are:

1.  Taxpayers are funding two school systems—one public and one private.
