EAU CLAIRE, WISCONSIN – June 29, 2023 – Converge Radio and Valley Media Works (also known as “Eau Claire Public Access Center”) announce the merging of their operations and board, creating a community-focused source for broadcast radio and television in the Chippewa Valley. The newly formed organization will operate under the name Converge Media, with office locations at CoLab and Banbury Place in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

“We’re excited about this new entity we’re creating,” says Executive Board Member, Ed Hudgins, “In recent years, Converge Radio and Valley Media Works have explored collaboration, seeking ways to make both organizations more impactful. We have a renewed sense of purpose as we continue to mobilize toward being what we can be for the Eau Claire community and beyond. We’re just getting started!”

Valley Media Works streams content online and broadcasts on Spectrum Communications Cable Television on channels 993 and 994. In 2020, Converge Radio began transmitting on WRFP 101.9FM, after their departure from 99.9FM and becoming an independent radio station. That marked the first collaboration between the two operations, which ultimately led to the idea that a deeper partnership could be forged.

“The formation of Converge Media gives us the chance to showcase local artists even more. And that's the whole point of art – to bring people together. The more people can be involved, the greater the opportunities, it's just a wonderful thing.” says Cullen Ryan, Converge’s Station Manager.

The Converge Media Board is currently working on community engagement, partnerships, and fundraising through grants, sponsorships, and community donations. These efforts are empowering Converge Media to pursue its purpose: to build and amplify community through celebration, collaboration, and cultivation.
