Last Night's Al Franken Benefit

I went to the Al Franken/Tom Davis/Leo Kottke benefit last night in Minneapolis. It was fun. Al and Tom were funny (I particularly enjoyed the interview with the "representative from the Jack Daniels Distillery" who explained what to do when you absolutely have to drink and drive).

Leo Kottke was as always wonderful to listen to, and at the end Al talked quite a bit about how he is fed up with Republicans. I suspect the woman sitting next to me was a Republican - she was very quiet through this whole part of the program and looked like she wasn't feeling well. Maybe she really wasn't feeling well - it was hard for me to understand why a hard-core Republican would have come in the first place. Al hinted a little more strongly than I'd seen before that he may be running for Senate in 2008.

The show seemed to be pretty close to sold out, and it was a lot of fun. I'm sure it raised a lot of money for the Midwest Values PAC. If you get a chance to go to one of these benefits in the future, I recommend it.
