He didn't know at the time he was going to run for US Senate, because he hadn't yet heard Dick Morris recruiting rich guys in Wisconin. But Ron Johnson -- the outsider who says we've had enough of professional politicians -- wrote a $10,000 check -- the max -- to professional pol Scott Walker's campaign for governor last year.

Maybe he can use up his 2010 legal limit by giving 10 grand to Neumann, if he wants any Neumann supporters in his corner. It could be hard for a Neumann backer to get behind a Senate candidate who's supporting Neumann's opponent, even for those Big Tent Republicans.

Johnson has some more 'splainin' to do, too.

Like Tea Party superstar, Rand Paul, who just won the GOP Senate primary in Kentucky, Johnson has said “I’m joining the Republican Party and I’d like to bring the Tea Party with me.”

Paul says discrimination should be a "local" issue and that private businesses should have the “freedom” to refuse to serve people based on the color of their skin.

Perhaps Johnson can tell Wisconsin voters, in his state convention speech on Saturday, where he stands. Sometimes being part of this Tea Party thingy is no picnic.
