Annual Summer Conference for Wisconsin Farmer's Union.

National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson will travel to Wisconsin this month to visit with farmers about priorities for the next farm bill. Johnson will address the Wisconsin Farmers Union Summer Conference at WFU Kamp Kenwood on Thurs., Aug. 17. The conference runs from 10am to 2pm at the camp, located at 19161 79th Ave., Chippewa Falls. The morning program will include a chapter presidents meeting and discussions on successful Farmers Union chapter fundraisers and opportunities available through the Chapter Initiative Grant Program. As the afternoon keynote, Johnson will share NFU's hopes for the 2018 Farm Bill and will also discuss the NAFTA renegotiation, healthcare, and other issues of concern to rural Americans.

Attendees are invited to come early for an optional 9am nature walk and tour of the camp facilities. See recent
improvements to the camp and learn a bit about the rich heritage of this gem along Lake Wissota.

Are you a baker? Consider bringing your best pie for the pie contest. Attendees will enjoy the pies and ice
cream during a lakeside lunch.

The Summer Conference is a family-friendly event. A day camp is available from 9am to 2pm for youth ages 7
and older for $15 (includes activities and lunch).
For those looking to make a day of it, a 9-hole golf outing and
networking social is being planned for 4:30pm at the nearby Timber Terrace Golf Course. The cost is $15 for
singles, and beginners are welcome. Those not interested in golfing are welcome to socialize on the deck or join in a game of bean bags. Drinks and pizza are available in the clubhouse. RSVP for the Summer Conference
