This should terrify you. How the "leader of the free world" speaks:

There's Good Conversation

We talked about the coordination between Iraqi and coalition forces. And I would characterize their assessment as the coordination is good. In other words, there's good conversation, constant conversation between the commanders of our troops and their troops, and that's a positive development.

Two Goals Are Iran

We know that we've got common goals that make sense for both our peoples. Two such goals are Iran, convincing the Iranians to get rid of its nuclear weapons.

He's A Very Sic Man

Now, let me step back on Iran, itself. We have a comprehensive strategy to deal with Iraq [sic]. There's a variety of issues that we have with Iraq [sic]. One, of course, is influence inside of Iraq

There's A Lot Of Countries

And it turns out there's a lot of countries in the world that agree with that assessment.

Dosen't Know The Meaning Of The Word "Equity"

I Hope That The Quds Force Is A Part Of The Iranian Government

Can I -- let me -- I can't say it more plainly: there are weapons in Iraq that are harming U.S. troops because of the Quds force. And as you know, I hope, that the Quds force is a part of the Iranian government.

Hello Drain Bamage, My Old Friend

It's one of the challenges I have to explain to the American people what Iraq will look like in a situation that will enable us to say we have accomplished our mission.

It's Like Zero Car Bombings, Dude

First, the -- Iraq will be a society in which there is relative peace. I say "relative peace" because if it's like zero car bombings, it never will happen that way. It's like -- the fundamental question is, can we help this government have the security force level necessary to make sure that the ethnic cleansing that was taking place in certain neighborhoods has stopped.

Who Is This Dissafected Sunni?

And so there -- and then there's this disaffected Sunnis, people who believe that they should still be in power in spite of the fact that the Shia are the majority of the country, and they're willing to use violence to try to create enough chaos so they get back in power.

Damn, That's Some Good Blow!

But nevertheless, it is -- it was dangerous enough that I had to make a decision to try to stop it, so that a government that is bound by a constitution, where the country feels relatively secure as a result of a security force that is even-handed in its application of security; a place where the vast resources of the country -- this is a relatively wealthy country, in that they've got a lot of hydrocarbons -- is shared equally amongst people; that there is a federalism that evolves under the Constitution where the local provinces have got authority, as well; and where people who may have made a political decision in the past and yet weren't criminals can participate in the life of the country; and is an ally in the war on terror.

Laura Got The Liberry

You know, you got the Blackberry and everything there.

Brain-Tongue Disconnect

You know, I'm asking -- you're obviously talking to certain people, or a person. I'm talking to our commanders. Their job is to tell me what -- the situation on the ground. And I have -- I know there's concern about the home front.

It's Sic Because He Has No Conscience

The only thing I can tell you is that when I speak, I'm very conscience [sic] about the audiences that are listening to my words.

What He Learned From Dick Cheney

One of the problems -- not specifically on this issue, just in general -- let's put it this way, money trumps peace, sometimes.

On Working With Democrats

And I'd like to work with the Democrat leadership, as well as, obviously, my Republican folks, to get it done.... I got a letter the other day from a group of Republican and Democrat senators talking about the desire to work on health care.... And, therefore, I will argue vociferously the No Child Left Behind Act needs to be reauthorized, it's working, it's an important piece of legislation, and will reach out to Democrat members, as well as Republican members, to get this bill reauthorized.

Not My Hog Farmer

The problem with relying only on corn is that -- by the way, when the demand for corn stays high, the price tends to go up, and your hog farmer gets disgruntled with the alternative energy plan.

The Defense Of What?

Last question, then I've got to go have lunch with Bob Gates, Secretary of the Defense.

The One Viewer

What are you looking at? Checking the time? For the viewer out there -- you're getting a big -- timekeeper and everything.

I'm Telling You, That's Some Unbef**kinglieveable Blow

Look, this is a world in which -- and I'm not suggesting you're this way -- but this is a world in which people say, MEET -- sit down and meet. And my answer is, if it yields results; that's what I'm interested in. And so I believe the strategy that -- and by the way, I remember this during the North Korean issue, debate.

Look at this. All the other aside, we're now supposed to believe that the central allegation in that was false. Not just in the real world sense, but even in the Bush administration sense. That is to say, the administration didn't authorize him to say the arms transfers were authorized at the highest levels of the Iranian government. He just screwed up. He said something he wasn't supposed to say. Do we believe this? This is the kind of goof that starts wars. Government officials are fired for screw-ups of far less gravity. Is this unnamed 'official' getting fired? And why has it taken three days for anybody to say this briefer went beyond its brief.

It is always painful to watch George stumble his way through press conferences. He can't get through a sentence without at least two-three "uhs," his eye lids flutter up and down in what my daughter calls the "liar's blink" and just because it is painful that a human like that is ostensibly the leader of the free world. There is always a plethora of things that he says, does, or screws up on to write about but this time what caught my attention happened during the Q & A. George was asked if he thought the economic sanctions on Iran would work because so many European nations trade with that country.

He stopped to collect his thoughts with what he thought must've looked like a studied and careful demeanor, but more like someone with a sour tummy, and said: "well, let's put it this way: Money trumps peace, sometimes. In other words, commercial interests are very powerful interests throughout the world." It is always interesting with people who frequently play fast and loose with the truth, such as the liars in BushCo, because if they talk long enough they tell a truth.

"Money trumps peace" is the fundamental reason for the invasions and subsequent gory and violent occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. In Richard Behan's excellent article: , he brilliantly follows the history of the oil-money trail in these countries that are one, rich in oil, and two, well placed for the transportation and delivery of oil.

Lies and the Lying Liars

It's times like these you've just got to miss that dear lady Molly Ivins. Meet our new friend, Georgia State House Rep. (R), chairman of the retirement committee in the state house. Bridges is now in a bit of trouble for spilling the beans about evolution being the product of a Pharisee Jew conspiracy to bamboozle normal Americans and destroy Christianity.

“Indisputable evidence — long hidden but now available to everyone — demonstrates conclusively that so-called ‘secular evolution science’ is the Big-Bang 15-billion-year alternate ‘creation scenario’ of the Pharisee Religion,” . “This scenario is derived concept-for-concept from Rabbinic writings in the mystic ‘holy book’ Kabbala dating back at least two millennia.”

It seems that the actual author or analyst, I guess you might say, was a fellow named Marshall Hall, the husband of Bridges campaign manager, Bonnie Hall. Then they sent it out over Bridges' signature to state legislators in Texas, California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Ohio. And they didn't stop by letting the cat out of the bag on evolution. They also blew the whistle on all this hokum about the earth revolving around the Sun.

Barnes' memo pointed fellow state legislators to the information at which rails against the “a mystic, anti-Christ ‘holy book’ of the Pharisee Sect of Judaism” and claims that “the earth is not rotating … nor is it going around the sun.” They've even caught on to the "centuries-old conspiracy" on the part of Jewish physicists to destroy Christianity.

Now, it was down in Texas that things started to spin out of control. Warren Chisum (R), House Appropriations Committee Chairman in the Texas state House, took the memo from his friend Bridges and used the House operations system to throughout the legislature. (Here's Chisum's and the .)

The ADL caught wind of the Bridges memo and now Chisum he's "willing to apologize if I've offended anyone."

Reports the Dallas Morning News: "Mr. Chisum said he hadn't looked at the Web site and didn't realize that he was distributing that type of material. He expressed chagrin that he didn't vet the material more carefully."

Indeed, even Bridges is now saying that he didn't have anything to do with the memo.

Hall doesn't agree. He said he wrote it and got Bridges' approval to send it out. "I gave him a copy of it months ago,” Hall, who is a retired high school teacher told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “I had already written this up as an idea to present to him so he could see what it was and what we were thinking.” And of course the two have teamed up to ban the teaching of evolution in Georgia back in 2005. So, Bridges' denials are ringing a tad hollow.

And the views expressed in his memo are just too compelling for Bridges to deny outright.

Asked if he agreed with the Kaballah evolution conspiracy theory and the earth's lack of motion, he told the Atlanta Journal Constitution, “I agree with it more than I would the Big Bang Theory or the Darwin Theory. I am convinced that rather than risk teaching a lie why teach anything?”

Proving that local elections do indeed count. This, from . "The Kansas school board, long ridiculed for its resistance to teaching evolution, prepared Tuesday to repeal rules backed by social conservatives and switch to science guidelines that embrace Charles Darwin's mainstream theories. The new board, with a 6-4 majority of Democrats and moderate Republicans, was to debate and vote on what would be the fifth set of science standards for public schools in eight years. "

We Are Ruled By Morons "Don Young is the third stupidest f**king guy on the face of the planet." -A. Lincoln, Gettysburg Address

Keith Gets a Raise violence, and general "kicking the puppy" humor, conservative political humor these days involves referencing an alternative reality that they've created. They don't need jokes, they just need to point to the fantasy world they've created ("Nancy Pelosi's big plane! ahahahahaah!") so they can have a shared chuckle about it. There's no wit needed, just an invocation of pre-existing laugh lines based on their manufactured reality.

Gay bashing in Michigan Back in 2004, when Michigan approved a referendum to ban gay marriage, supporters insisted that marriage itself was the only thing they were concerned about. Benefits for gay partners wouldn't be affected.

But -- as critics warned at the time -- the ban's wording was ambiguous: "The union of one man and one woman in marriage," it said, "shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose."

That left it open for broad interpretation. And it didn't take long before State Attorney General Mike Cox, a conservative Republican, took advantage of the situation. In early 2005, he issued an opinion barring state employers from offering spousal benefits to same-sex couples. The American Civil Liberties Union sued, along with 21 gay and lesbian couples in Michigan, and, initially, a local judge sided with the plaintiffs. But then the appellate court reversed the lower judge's ruling. With the state Supreme Court unlikely to overrule, the state's public employers began notifying employers that spousal benefits would likely end within the year.

Is this an example of conservative overreach that will come back to haunt Republicans? Maybe not immediately, but Cohn suggests it might turn out that way before long. We can hope.

Swiss will investigate our crimes :

Switzerland on Wednesday followed Italy and Germany in raising the threat of criminal prosecution of CIA operatives involved in anti-terrorism operations in Europe.

The Swiss Cabinet authorized the start of criminal proceedings against those responsible for the abduction in Italy of an Egyptian Muslim preacher allegedly taken on CIA flights through Swiss airspace.

Switzerland, which has cooperated closely in U.S. investigations and attempts to shut down terrorists' funding networks, has generally avoided open disputes with the U.S. government. But the wording of the seven-member Cabinet's statement was sharp.

"In the view of the Federal Council, the use of Swiss airspace for an abduction cannot be tolerated," the statement said. "There is evidence that basic norms of international law were violated."

It breaks my heart that they're talking about our country that way. In other news to be ashamed of, NPR discusses the inclusion of the US in . Truly, I think decades from now, historians are going to ask what was wrong with all of us for allowing this country to fall so spectacularly on a global level.

Jesus won't save your marriage During the November 28 edition of Meet the Press, Tim Russert and the so-called Reverend Jerry Falwell discussed religion and morality in the northern and southern United States. Russert noted: "A report came out that the state with the lowest level of divorce is Massachusetts. The states with the highest level are the so-called Bible Belt, in the South." Russert also noted that Desperate Housewives, an ABC television drama which some critics consider risqué, is "a widely viewed television series, particularly in the South." Falwell falsely claimed that the studies Russert reported do not hold true for born-again Christians: "I would take that poll a little further. Among born-again, Bible-believing Christians who take the Bible as the word of God, you'll find those stats are nonplus [sic]." A September 8 by Ventura, California research and marketing firm The Barna Group stated: "[T]he likelihood of married adults getting divorced [35 percent] is identical among born again Christians and those who are not born again [all Americans who are not born-again]." As Boston Globe columnist William V. D'Antonio on October 31, 2004, Barna Group founder and directing leader is himself a born-again Christian.

Obama smear update From a article on Romney's "Mormon Question":

The fact that pollsters' questions single out only a few religions is suspicious. Why do they never ask voters if they'd shun Quakers, such as Presidents Nixon and Hoover; or Jehovah's Witnesses, like Eisenhower? What about Christian Scientists? What about the Trinity United Church of Christ?

"Trinity" is the name of Obama's home congregation. "" is the denominational name. That squishing sound you hear is my brains coming out through my ears as I bash my head against the keyboard.

Just before the onset of paralysis, the sufferer is beset with delusions of grandeur, a sense of understanding everything, a sense that he is on the verge of some monumental discovery which will forever change the course of history, as well as a sense that some divine electricity is coursing through his veins.
