Beyond the Headlines Art and Essay Entries

Have you noticed more Chippewa Valley students taking free or reduced lunches, or taking home weekend lunches? Do you know of people unable to buy healthy food, or any food? Are there Chippewa Valley residents who lack a stable home or can’t find affordable housing, or pay bills or pay their student loans?  Do you have post-high school education and find yourself in a low-wage job unrelated to your interests, skills, or gifts?  If yes, does this mean you are affected by poverty?

Knowing News: A Journalist Panel Discusses Today’s Newsroom

Part II of our Knowing News program is a panel of western Wisconsin journalists discussing what it is like to work in today’s newsroom on October 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the UW Stout Student Center Ballroom A.  The Knowing News project, partially funded by a grant from the Wisconsin Center for the Book and the Wisconsin Humanities Council, is meant to educate us all to become more informed consumers of the news.   Members of the panel include:

The Energy Fair brings over 13,000 attendees together to learn about clean energy and sustainability, connect with others, and take action towards a sustainable future. Organized by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association, The Energy Fair is the longest-running event of its kind in the nation.

Springtime Uptown Artisan Market

With warmer days ahead of us we are planning a HUGE weekend of art, demos, food, entertainment, conversations and FUN! Artisan Forge Studios Artisans will have their doors open as well as our Gallery being lit up! We are also inviting 20 outside artisans to set-up with tents in our parking lots to showcase their talents. FREE admission as always!
