MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsinites will soon have the opportunity to vie for funding to support projects that benefit lakes, rivers and wetlands. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides more than $6 million each year for surface water protection and restoration.
Menomonie has for some years been working on a project to reduce the amount of Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and phosphorus in the city's stormwater runoff. MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources staff is assisting with cleanup efforts of a manure spill near Pulaski in Oconto County that entered the Little Suamico River.
Late last week and over the weekend, surface-applied manure from Betley Farms near Pulaski, ran off the intended application site and into the Little Suamico River.
Water, planning, and rest are the keys to successful outdoor activities when the heat is high. Frac sand supplier Covia has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. In Wisconsin, Covia has facilities in Columbia, Dunn, Monroe, Pierce and Waupaca counties, including the only frac sand mine in Dunn. Covia has entered into a cost-reduction agreement with its secured creditors, and intends to reduce costs by $1 billion. Covia owns 32 mines, and is a result of the merger of Unimin and Fairmont Santrol.
