The Story of Plastic Trailer

Thanks to everyone who viewed the film or participated in the panel discussion.

WisCommunity was in the process of scheduling an Environmental Film Series just as the social distancing restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic were starting. This threw the entire project into disarray, but we're trying a new plan. This week, in honor of Earth Day, we will be making a foray into doing a Virtual Environmental Film Series.

You may have seen the film  The same people have just produced a new film called The Story of Plastic, which traces the issues of plastic pollution from the source as a petrochemical product through the end issues of pollution of the land, air, and oceans. The film is going to premiere on Earth Day on the Discovery Channel, but we've obtained the rights for our readers to view the film online starting today. This will be part of our ongoing Community Talks Virtual Discussions, and there will be a discussion panel online this Saturday where we will have a panel of local experts to discuss the film and to answer your questions.

I watched the film last night and it is a fascinating trip around the world exploring the issues of the incredible increase of plastic in our lives and the problems caused by plastic.

We have a limited number of screenings of the film available, so at least for the next few days we ask that you sign up to receive the link to view the film and to receive an invitation to the panel discussion on Saturday. We will also provide information on how you can help to make a difference in the proliferation of plastic in our environment. To see the film and to receive notices of upcoming Community Talks events please sign up with the form below. You'll hear from us soon.

This is all coming together rapidly so there will be daily updates on the issue and what you can do to help. We will also try to bring you other ways to celebrate Earth Day while you are stuck in your house.
