Menomonie Climate Strike | Wis.Community

The UW-Stout Sustainability Council and the League of Conservation Voters are holding a Climate Strike on Friday, November 15, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UW-Stout Memorial Student Center, including a 25-minute walk around campus and downtown Menomonie to encourage engagement to curb climate change in our area.

is a global movement which started in 2018 when a 15-year-old student, Greta Thunberg, skipped class every day for three weeks and sat in front of the Swedish Parliament to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis.

Invited speaker Kate Beaton, Eau Claire City Council member and Western Organizer for Wisconsin Conservation Voters, will speak to students and local community members about taking action to propose clean energy initiatives within the city of Menomonie.
