Gov. Evers orders DNR to close many state parks

MADISON  Gov. Tony Evers today directed the Department of Natural Resources to close several state parks to protect the health and safety of Wisconsinites.

Due to unprecedented crowds, litter, vandalism and out of an abundance of caution to protect public health and safety and help flatten the curve, the following Wisconsin State Parks, Forests and Recreational Areas will close at the end of the day Thurs., April 9, and will remain closed beginning Fri,, April 10, until further notice:

Confirmed COVID-19 cases continue to grow in the state, although the rate of growth is declining over time showing  some indication of flattening of the curve. We're working on some better graphs of the statistics which should be rolling out later in the week. Also DHS has started releasing more information in the past few days, some of which we will represent here, particularly cases of infection and death by race.

Wisconsin's Race To Roll Out More COVID-19 Tests, Despite Shortages Of 'Everything'

Within two months of the day COVID-19 was first identified in Wisconsin, the state saw a sustained surge of new cases, racing past 1,200 lab-confirmed infections by the end of March 2020.

The true number of people with COVID-19 in Wisconsin is undoubtedly much higher than the official tally — and continues to climb — though no one knows by exactly how much.

By order of the Wisconsin State Supreme Court the election will take place tomorrow, April 7.  The  court put out an order minutes ago invalidating Gov. Evers Executive Order this afternoon to postpone the election.

Number of COVID-19 infections in Wisconsin reaches 2440 with 77 total deaths

The reported state-wide cases of COVID-19 infection increased to 2440 in today's report from the state Department of Health Services. This is an increase of 173 from yesterday's numbers. The number of deaths increased from 68 to 77 in the past 24 hours. There are now 668 hospitalized with the disease.

Dunn County - 5

Eau Claire County - 21

Chippewa County - 16

Breaking - Governor Evers suspends in-person voting

In a press release this afternoon Governor Evers announced that he is suspending in-person voting on April 7 since the legislature did not act as he requested. It is likely that the Republicans in the state will attempt to put this order through the Wisconsin Supreme Court, so it is possible that this will change again later in the day.
