Eau Claire County issues new COVID-19 order

Eau Claire County COVID-19 Q&A - June 10, 2020

The Eau Claire City-County Health Department today issued a new local health order that takes effect at midnight tonight. Now permitted in this new order are indoor public gatherings of up to 50 people and up to 100 people in outdoor public gatherings. One-on-one personal service providers are recommended to not exceed 20 clients per day.

The COVID-19 statistics continue to be a little mixed. Although it is certainly encouraging that the percentage of positive tests continues to decline in Wisconsin, life is not entirely good. It is a little difficult to know what to think of some of the statistics at this point because the testing parameters have changed, and many more tests are being done, including people who may be asymptomatic or only have minor symptoms.

Wisconsin State Park campgrounds opening June 10

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is opening the State Park Campground system on June 10. Several precautions are being taken to improve the safety of the campgrounds and reservation system.

Park offices will remain closed to the public, signs will be placed throughout the campground giving advice on COVID-19 safety, and an automated touchless check-in system has been implemented.

Additional Unemployment Insurance Benefits Available in Wisconsin Under Extended Benefit Program

MADISON – Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Caleb Frostman announced today that, due to an increase in the state's unemployment rate, Wisconsin triggered onto the Extended Benefit (EB) program, which provides additional unemployment benefits to those who exhaust previous benefits, effective May 17, 2020.

Eau Claire County issues new COVID-19 protection order

Eau Claire County today issued a slightly-changed COVID-19 protection order. The new order is slightly different in that it restricts outdoor gatherings of people to a maximum of 20 rather than the previous 10. The  new order is attached below, and we will be putting the new media briefing announcing the order as part of this article later.

Wisconsin hits high for COVID-19 new infections

The numbers released from the state Department of Health Services are discouraging. Today's new COVID-19 infections are a new high point for the pandemic, with 733 new positive cases today.

Dunn County Buildings to remain closed to the public

The Dunn County office buildings will all remain closed to the public through the end of June. That period may be extended or shortened depending on progress on containing the pandemic. 

“Many employees who have been working from home are now beginning to return to Countyoffices,” said County Manager Paul Miller. “With more people in the buildings and COVID-19still a threat to public health, we need to protect residents and employees of Dunn County.”
