Note that although things are definitely moving in a good direction, the county is still in a HIGH risk level category, and it is not time yet to drop vigilance to stop the spread of this disease.

Dunn County Health Department issues new mask advisory

The Dunn County Health Department has issued a new mask advisory for the county. This is not really a change in recommendations so much as it is a reminder that despite the fact that the cases in the state and county have decreased, we are still in a pandemic and will need to remain vigilant until we reach herd immunity through vaccinations.

Gov. Evers, DHS Announce Launch of Four More Community-Based Vaccination Clinics

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) announced the locations of four additional community-based vaccination clinics. The vaccination clinics will be located in La Crosse County, Racine County, Marathon County, with the last clinic split between Douglas and Barron County. Locations will open within the next two months.

This is the weekly Friday update from KT Gallagher, Dunn County Health Administrator. The COVID-19 activity level in Dunn County has dropped from very high to high this week. The county currently has 66 active cases, and three people are in the hospital. 3.8% of the people in the county have completed both doses of vaccine. 

Dunn County relaxes COVID-19 meeting recommendations

Between Feb. 3 and Feb. 17 the number of new COVID-19 cases in Dunn County met the state standard for a "high" number of cases, which is a drop from the previous "very high" level.

Two additional COVID-19 variant cases in Eau Claire County

Two additional cases of the COVID-19 virus variant that was originally found in England have been discovered in Eau Claire. This variant, called  B.1.1.7, is considered to be more readily transmitted than the original virus, and is also possibly more deadly.

Walgreens announces vaccine availability - site promptly crashes

The Walgreens website is now functioning and it is possible to look up the availability of appointments. In my case the site said no appointments are available currently in Menomonie.

Another update -- the site is back in "updates in progress" mode. My guess is that not a lot of appointments will be made any time soon.

Update -- the Walgreens.com website is functioning again, but attempts to schedule an appointment are still failing.
