Choosing his words carefully

Milwaukee Common Council President Willie Hines is a cautious man.

His public statements are very carefully constructed. But this seemed a little too careful even for him.

Hines told  he is not running for mayor next spring, but might seek a higher office sometime. He boldly declared:

“It would be a joy, probably, to serve in a greater capacity, and I would welcome that opportunity...”

He forgot to say he maybe would welcome that opportunity.
