When: Tuesday, Oct 17, 2017, 5:45PM
15600 50th Street South Afton, MN

The sun sets at 6:24 so the last 20 minutes of our hike will be at twilight.  Forecast is 64 and sunny so it should be a spectacular sunset!  I plan on bringing my light just in case!

We will meet at the 50th Street entrance at the north end of the park. This is street parking only and does not require a state park pass. The route I have mapped is about 3.7 miles in length and will take about 70 minutes to complete. The prairie is mostly flat but there are a few scattered hills.  Please note, we will be walking at a fairly fast pace around 18 minutes a mile.

Please be on time for the hike. We will be departing at 5:45 sharp. Late comers can catch up to us on the trail. We will be traveling in a counter-clockwise direction.

We will be hiking on the dashed trail in this map (the far sections to the east we will not hike)

NOTE: Although this is a state park, you do NOT need to have a parking permit.  This entrance is street parking only so it's free to all who want to hike it.

This was the last sunset we witnessed on the prairie!
