On Friday we reported that the Menomonie Police were investigating the death of a 6-week-old child. On Feb. 19 the police were called to 2421 4th Avenue North for a report of a disorderly male, later identified as Jonathan Scott Lucas. Lucas led the police to an infant who had no pulse and was not breathing. Life-saving measures were attempted but failed. The infant was later identified as Daemyn Michael Lucas.

An autopsy performed by the Ramsey County Medical office on February 20 formed a preliminary conclusion that the case is a homicide, and has been under investigation since by the Menomonie Police,  the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, Dunn County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, Dunn County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Dunn County District Attorney’s Office.

The investigation led to the arrest of Jonathan Scott Lucas for 1st Degree Reckless Homicide. Jonathan Scott Lucas was arrested on March 1, 2021 by MPD investigators and special agents for the Department of Justice. Lucas is 28 years old.

He was subsequently transported and booked into the Dunn County Jail. The investigation is continuing.
