On January 21, 2024, the weekend of the March for Life in Washington DC, local supporters of Options for Women – Menomonie gathered for a brisk walk in fifteen-below wind chill, a tour of the newly expanded pregnancy help center, and some hot chili.

Billed as the "Sanctity of Life Walk," the determined group made the 10-block hike from St. Joseph Catholic Church to the OFWM office on the corner of Broadway and 6th Avenue East, kitty-corner from the Raw Deal.

Options for Women – Menomonie (AKA "OFWM" or "Options") seeks to offer trustworthy information to those dealing with an unplanned pregnancy or just wanting support and help before and after the birth of a child. OFWM hopes that when presented with information on the medical reality of abortion, adoption options and a caring staff to accompany moms through their parenting walk, that women will choose to give their babies the gift of life.

OFWM is taking steps toward "going medical." The office recently expanded to include an ultrasound room. They are working, under the guidance of a Medical Director, to get trained, licensed nursing staff to be able to offer ultrasounds, so moms can have a first view of the child in their wombs - for FREE.

Since many are quick to find fault with pregnancy help centers like Options, all rules and best practices must be followed meticulously by centers offering medical services.

This process will be expensive and require the help of experts in a variety of fields. Those wanting to donate or volunteer can contact Options at . Those seeking assistance can learn more at .

In Case You Missed It

What follows is a photo-tour of the current center and the expansion.

Intake: A new client talks to a trained client advocate and is offered a self-administered pregnancy test. OFWM does not have licensed mental health counselors. These client advocates are trained to listen to a client's needs and offer them program help and referrals, as appropriate.

The Baby Boutique: Clients earn “reward points” to “purchase” diapers and needed baby items from the Boutique by attending one-on-one parenting and relationship classes on subjects of interest to the client. Examples include: what to expect at different stages of pregnancy, possible medical complications during childbirth, basic newborn hygiene, parenting a toddler, etc.

An interesting sight at the office is the wall of parenting info and curriculum.

So what's new?

This new reception room has a large conference table – good for Board and support group meetings. Current support group offerings include miscarriage care and post abortion recovery. “Unraveled Roots” is a catch all support group for past traumas, addictions, codependency, abandonment issues, etc.

Executive Director, Ronda Luna, shows off the new examination table. Options hopes to purchase an ultrasound machine soon and is working to provide trained, licensed medical staff so women can begin to be served.

All services provided by Options for Women – Menomonie are completely confidential and FREE.
