The purpose of this summit is to provide you with practical skills to advance progressive solutions. We believe engaged citizens equipped with tools, techniques, and information can successfully create political change. The summit’s agenda is comprised of experienced and dynamic speakers that will cover diverse topics ranging from civic engagement to social media. A detailed description of the agenda can be found below. Participants will have opportunities to network with other activists and meet with organizations from the region. While networking will be ongoing, there will be designed times during the engagement fair and the after hours reception where attendees can mix, chat, and connect. The goal is for you to walk away with new skills, ready to roll up your sleeves and make a difference. Registration is required. DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS NOVEMBER 8. Registration is required. KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: "How to Respond: Civic Renewal in the Age of Trump" Peter Levine. Peter is one of the country’s most influential civic engagement activists. He is the author of We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For: The Promise of Civic Renewal in America (Oxford University Press, 2013) and a co-editor of The Deliberative Democracy Handbook: Strategies for Effective Civic Engagement in the Twenty-First Century (Jossey-Bass, 2005). He was a founding member of Tisch College’s CIRCLE, The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement, which he continues to oversee as an associate dean.He is a Professor of Citizenship & Public Affairs in Tufts University’s Jonathan Tisch College of Civic Life. WORKSHOP SESSIONS "Using Social Media to Build a Movement" Josh Klemons "Boots on the Ground: Political Campaigning for Beginners" Nikki Javurek "Civic Engagement Skills and Strategies" TBD "Defending Voter Rights in Wisconsin and Beyond" Molly McGrath "Working with the Media to Amplify Your Message" TBD ENGAGEMENT FAIR Representatives from an array of groups and organizations will be gathered at booths to share information about their mission and offer opportunities for involvement. If your group is interested in having a booth at the summit, please visit our registration page to sign up. AFTER HOURS RECEPTION Following the event, attendees will have the opportunity to gather in The Cabin for conversation and networking in a laid back atmosphere. Food and draft beers will be available for purchase from 5:00-7:30pm. COST AND REGISTRATION General admission is $12. Student admission is $6. Registration includes Eventrbrite fee. Pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is Wednesday November 8th.
