TRAINING: How to hold a house meeting | Wis.Community

Facebook Events near Menomonie

At this training, you will learn everything you need to know to hold a successful house meeting. We will discuss the elements of a house meeting agenda, how to recruit people to attend your meeting, your role as a host, and the role of the organizer representing Dunn County Democrats.

This training is open to anyone who has committed to, or is considering, hosting a house meeting in Dunn County during the fall of 2019.

House meetings are a critical part of our strategy to build a grassroots network in Dunn County that will elect Democrats in the 2020 elections.

House meetings are small group gatherings that can take place in a home, community center, place of worship, restaurant, etc. They do not have to be in a home. House meetings help us engage our neighbors and friends in a less formal setting to learn more about our grassroots strategy and to share their own personal stake in the outcomes of the 2020 elections; and to decide if they would like to be a part of the campaign to win Dunn County.

House meeting discussions focus on motivating people through values — not debating issues or specific policies. A house meeting is a space for discussion about our community, the challenges we face, and our own place in the solution. Participants get to know other people and have conversations about their own stories and values as well as our shared values as a community.

A house meeting is a chance to create engagement that moves others off the sidelines and into action. It is not a party, but rather a meeting (albeit, casual and relaxed!). House meetings are also an opportunity to build authentic relationships and cultivate leadership from within our community.

The house meeting will lay out our overall campaign strategy. Participants will be asked to take specific action to help Dunn County Democrats build capacity to mobilize voters to go to polls and cast their ballot for Democratic candidates.
