John Williams composed music for many of the highest-grossing films of all time, including the Harry Potter films, the Star Wars series, the Indiana Jones series, the Jurassic Park films, Schindler's List, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. We'll hear some of his most beloved and unforgettable works featuring music from a selection of the best films in cinema history. Our stunning violinist, Yevgeny Kutik, returns to the La Crosse Symphony performing the violin solo from the movie, Schindler's List, as well as Eric Korngold's glistening Violin Concerto. Korngold, an early mentor to the young John Williams, would take the plush symphonic sounds of 1920's Vienna all the way to Hollywood, becoming one of the great composers of cinema's golden age, "The Adventure of Robin Hood" among his many credits. Korngold's concerto presents several of the movie music themes, and he was also a classical composer who was mentored as a young student by none other than Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss.
