Blanket Exercise | WisCommunity
The community is invited to  a participatory experience, called the Blanket Exercise, about  how colonization of this land  we now know as the United States of America has impacted Indigenous People who lived here long before Columbus and other settlers arrived.  Co facilitated by 1st Congregational UCC,Menomonie and Ho Chunk UCC, Black River Falls. More About this: The exercise begins with blankets spread out on the floor to represent the United States. A narrator and other actors read from a script as the participants move through time from arrival of the Europeans and then across the history of Indigenous Peoples and colonizers into the present.  As the history unfolds some participants will leave the blankets and blankets will be removed. The presentation includes talking circles following the enactment as a way to de-brief and share the experience with the community. Children over age of 12 only.
