Walker reinvents the wheel

Hey, what if state government had something like this to push economic development: An organization that

markets the state to corporate executives, site selection consultants, business decision-makers and investors to raise awareness that Wisconsin is a great place to do business and to encourage investment in Wisconsin.

... has traditionally been the first point of contact for out-of-state firms deciding where to locate a new or expansion facility. Our primary strength is our ability to draw upon the resources of both the public and private sectors and our ability to connect with new business prospects.

Does that sound a lot like Scott Walker's idea for a public-private economic development agency instead of the current Commerce Department?

Well, good news. We already have such an agency.

It is called and it has been in business since 1984.

Maybe Walker's new Commerce Dept. could install a waste hotline, too, like LtGov-elect Rebecca Kleefisch The state, of course, already has one.

Are these guys innovative or what?
