Gogebic Taconite says it is taking its shovel and going home, because it didn't get a blank check to destroy Wisconsin's environment. Two quick thoughts:
1. Let's make 'em stick to it. No Brett Favre changes of heart allowed.
2. Chalk up one more very big benefit of last summer's recall elections, which reduced the GOP majority in the State Senate from 19-14 to 17-16. Without that, and the concerted efforts of thousands of Wisconsinites who spoke out and organized against the mining bill, the original proposal written by and for Gogebic would have sailed through the legislature months ago.
