Republican majority leaders call "extraordinary" session to enact state budget

You see, friends, according to Repubs, just plain old ordinary sessions of the legislature are, well, just plain ordinary. And we're in a crisis, dammit. We are living in very interesting times and that calls for very interesting politics and very interesting interpretations of state law.

So Republicans called a special session beforehand to enact all sorts of pork barrel tax cuts while trying to whack pubilc employee unions. But that didn't work out too well, so....

Ta-dah! Announcing the new, improved extraordinary session. It's, well, simply .... extraordinary! Just like Republicans.

Are these guys drama queens or what?

I expect soon to hear the stentorian tones of the booth announcer at the NBC-TV network, pitching a new series.

"Wednesday -- a very, very special episode of the Republican-controlled legislature. A beloved character dies. Another goes blind with rage. And the Capitol will never be the same."

Coming up later, maybe, in the political silly season: Insta-phone-booth special sessions of the legislature, Superultra-special sessions of the legislature, Pajama-party-sleepover special sessions of the legislature, and wingnut-uber-radical special sessions of the legislature. It's the next big thing in modern, appearances-only lawmaking: It's all about brand names and product marketing, not about laws, or even about making anything.
