State Sen. Dale Schultz (R-Richland Center) announced today that he will not run for re-election. Life is difficult in the current GOP for anyone of a moderate stance. Sen. Schultz often took principled stands in his voting record in the Senate, while trying to balance representing his constituents against representing his party. Although I often disagree with Sen Schultz on his votes, I will greatly miss having someone in the Senate on the Republican side who clearly had a concscience and tried to do right by his constituents more than he tried to toe the party line. Sadly, one of the few voices of sanity in the state GOP is leaving. I'd like to thank Sen. Schultz for his caring service on behalf of his constituents.
