S&P downgrades the US

I have to remind myself that this is the same group that said the junk mortgages were good as gold.   But it's likely to have an effect, whether it is reasonable or not.  I am not looking forward to seeing the stock market figures on Monday.

I'm interested to see that S&P initially said that they were a few billion dollars off, so they were reconsidering.  Hang on, we'll get through this, we're tough.  But clearly the "tough decisions" that are being made in Washington are not going to pull us out of this financial quagmire.  And -- if the US is such a bad investment, why is everyone selling their stocks to buy US Treasuries?
