The obvious reason why ISIS terrorists are sending videos of Americans being beheaded is to terrorize Americans.
With that in mind, all of our major media sources have refused to air the beheadings. CBS said their refusal was because the beheading videos were "part of the campaign of terror" being waged by ISIS.
U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, however, has a different view. He feels Americans should be terrorized by watching the video because it will prompt them to react to ISIS:
