[img_assist|nid=141740|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=300|height=243]From Kelly Rindfleisch's perspective, her biggest concerns are publicly saving face with her Republican friends and not going to jail-- probably in that order.

So, what if a deal could be struck where Rindfleisch could get the best of both worlds:  No jail time and a public perception that she isn't cooperating with the prosecution?

That 's my bet for what is happening today.

Rindfleisch has two things to offer:  her own testimony against Russell and/or Walker, and knowledge of smoking guns that have gone undetected by the prosecution.  While she obviously doesn't want to be seen as actively cooperating, she likely handed over-- in the secrecy of the John Doe-- a smoking gun or two to the prosecution in exchange for the deal she received.

Right now, the prosecution has motive for Walker to commit crimes and evidence that crimes were committed, but missing the middle puzzle pieces of evidence showing that Walker actually committed the crimes, ordered crimes to be committed, or knew that crimes were being committed.

Rindfleisch can and probably did just fill in many of those missing middle puzzle pieces.
