A raise is a raise is a raise

(Apologies to Gertrude Stein.)

When is a $50,000 increase in pay not a $50,000 pay increase?

Why, when the Journal Sentinel's PoliFacts says it's not, of course.

Latest liberal group to get a "pants on fire" rating is Advancing Wisconsin, for stating, correctly, that Scott Walker "increased his own pay by $50,000."

Walker did exactly that.  He used to give back $60,000 of the county executive's salary, but decided, after being reelected in 2008, to give back $10,000 instead.  Sixty minus ten equals fifty, so you would think that Walker increased his own pay by $50,000.  Seems like pretty simple math.

Unless you're PolitiFact.  Why wasn't that a $50,000 pay increase?  Because the Walker-loving newspaper says so.

It's been a real public service to have the Journal Sentinel conduct its independent, fair-minded, no-holds-barred fact checks, hasn't it?

What a load of crap.
