Governor Scott Walker's most recent ad has an unidentified worker saying "thanks Scott" because he got a job at Mahuta Tools.

Upon further review, however, he should be saying thanks to former Governor Jim Doyle.  Here's why:  A details how Mahuta Tools had expanded their operation back in 2008-- under Doyle-- and had to mothball it during the Great Dubya Recession:

Expansion seemed like a good idea for Mahuta Tool Corp. of Germantown in early 2008.

The company was growing and a supplier had asked it to try out a large, expensive piece of equipment.  Owners Lynn and Ken Mahuta eventually decided to buy the equipment and broke ground on an expansion to hold it in August 2008. The next month, the economy crashed, throwing their plans into uncertainty.

Then, in the spring of 2010 and seven months before Walker took office, they told the Business Journal they were "now at 17 employees and ready to begin hiring again."

In other words, the expansion, the mothballing of the expansion, and the rebirth of the expansion of Mahuta all took place well before Walker even took office.
