New GOP strategy:The Thin Man switches parties; Republicans run as both parties

Unsuccessful in the State Senate recalls at getting any fake Democrats nominated, the GOP is apparently testing a new technique in the LaCrosse race to replace Jennifer Schilling, who was elected to the Senate.

The LaCrosse Tribune reports:

The GOP now has a candidate in the race for the vacant 95th Assembly district seat, while the last Republican to run for the seat has changed parties.

Conservative activist David Drewes announced his candidacy Monday with an endorsement from Bill Feehan, La Crosse County GOP chairman.

Nick Charles, who ran for the seat as a Republican in 2010, has registered to run this year as a Democrat. Charles lost to incumbent Jennifer Shilling with 36 percent of the votes in his first bid for public office.

Nick Charles was The Thin Man, was he not?
