State Rep. Jeff Stone, the Scott Walker clone running to replace him as Milwaukee County executive, has been rying to keep his distance from Walker ever since the governor's poll numbers plunged into the toilet.

But that gets harder and harder.

Walker, pictured with Stone, is the featured attraction coming to try to vacuum up some special interest and fatcat money for Stone in a fundraiser at t4:30 p.m. Thursday at the University Club, a private club where no riff-raff will be admitted.  But don't be surprised if there are a few folks on hand to give Walker a warm Milwaukee welcome.

Meanwhile, there's a report that an old Walker hand, Tim Russell, is working on some capacity for Stone's campaign, digging up dirt on Chris Abele, Stone's opponent. Russell is between jobs because he is under investigation for possibly breaking the law as a county employee working for Walker during the governor's race.

Russell was digging through Abele's divorce records at the courthouse, but Stone's campaign manager said she didn't send him. She didn't exactly say she had never heard of him or that she didn't know he was doing any research, just that she didn't send him to the courthouse.

Why all the subterfuge when Stone's already been running a TV commercial saying he's just like Walker? Oh, that was Abele's new commercial? Never mind.
