MJS is reporting that Winnebago county found 244 extra Prosser votes sometime during the middle of the day on Wednesday:
The AP last checked figures with Winnebago County at 10:14 a.m. Wednesday, according to the AP. The county adjusted its figures at 2:27 p.m.
I'm sure there is a reasonable explanation, but right now what seems fishy to me is that no official at Winnebego bothered to tell anyone about it.
It's a national news story that Kloppenburg won by 204 votes and they find 244 votes and they do... nothing with this information?!?
That said, I've been at the county court house and watched the formal count the day after an election. It's very crazy and results from the night before are usually wrong by a little bit here and little bit there as you go from precinct to precinct.
I would imagine what happened here is that they mistakenly didn't add in a precinct to their county count on Tuesday night, noticed the error Wednesday, and updated the total.
Very likely there will be many more of these types of revelations in the coming days. Expect the lead to see-saw back and forth.
