Uppity Wisconsin Action News Team was in Evansville, Wisconsin to take in the big Fourth of July Parade.
All of the candidates for the 2nd Congressional district were there, with the glaring exception of Mark Pocan, who didn't even have a campaign presence in the parade. (Note: Pocan was in Mineral Point for their 4th of July Parade.)
Pocan's top rival, Kelda Helen Roys, on the other hand, was out in full force with a huge flock of supporters, shaking hands in the crowd and signing up volunteers left and right. Her campaign was buzzing with enthusiasm and was the best in the parade.
A close second was the top Republican in the field-- Chad Lee. Lee didn't shake everybody's hand at the parade, but he came close. Lee's staff also did a good job of holding a sign up above Lee's head to let people know who he is and what he's running for-- a campaign basic, that all of the other candidates at the parade forgot. (Newsflash: 80% of people don't follow politics closely and have no idea who these people are walking in the parade.)
It also was noteworthy that only U.S. Senate candidate with a presence in the parade was Tommy Thompson. No Hovde or Baldwin or Neumann or Fitz..
