Hmmm... this is peculiar.
When something I recently wrote about was mentioned in the the Journal-Sentinel, I was identified as a "liberal." When Cody Oliphant, of One Wisconsin Now, wrote an op-ed for the paper he was described as working for a "progressive" group.
So, when Christian Schneider, a full time flak at the ultra-rightwing Wisconsin Policy Research Institute writes his nonsense you would expect him to be identified the way he identifies himself: as a conservative.
But, that would be too straight-forward.
No, when Schneider writes his intellectually dishonest screeds he is referred to simply as a "senior fellow at the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute." Which, to 99% of the readers, sounds like a legitimate, non-partisan group.
Of course, the Journal-Sentinel is not the only one. Schneider's op-eds regularly appear in the State Journal where he is referred to as a "senior fellow at the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, a free-market think tank." That sounds pretty harmless... although I don't know if claiming that there is no correlation between smaller class sizes and learning is a "free market" idea. (It's more of free-of-brain cells idea.)
