From 1998 to 2003, Ron Johnson's new chief of staff, Don Kent, was an aide to slack-jawed-belly scratcher Oklahoma Senator Don Nickels.
Nickels is perhaps best known for saying that not only should gays not be allowed to serve in our military, but even said that someone is gay should not be allowed to serve as the ambassador to the tiny country of Luxembourg! Back in 2000, when then-President Bill Clinton tried to appoint James Hormel, who happens to be gay, Nickels led the opposition to the appointment saying that being gay was "immoral" and that he "shouldn't be a represent of this country."
Nickels was also Chair of the GOP Platform Committee back in 1992, which was infamously one of the most extreme, rightwing conventions in recent history.
And, of course, Nickels was anti-science: not believing in the science of global warming or evolution.
Johnson said during the campaign that "I don't know, what I don't know" and that he would rely heavily on his staff to help him know what he doesn't know. Don Kent is the guy that is going to be be heading up the daunting task of filling in the many holes in Johnson's head.
The logical question is, though, who is filling-in the holes in Kent's head?
