In a recent inteview on WEKZ's "Drive Home with Sly," The Nation's John Nichols warned Democrats that Governor Scott Walker and his allies will spend "8-9-10 million" to make Trek's outsourcing "one of the most known facts in the history of Wisconsin politics." Nichols also said:
"If you're running for governor of Wisconsin and you've got to defend that (outsourcing), good luck."
"Here's the bottomline: Permanent normalizaton of trade relations with China was a policy that in particular gutted-out Wisconsin, Wisconsin was a uniquely badly damaged state in that regard. And the thing to remember on that is if you're running for President of the United States, you should certainly be good on this issue, but if you're running for governor of Wisconsin, you ought to be reallllllly good on these issues and the fact of the matter is, if there was ever a time when the Democratic Party would want to be, would want to this one right, this is it, because my sense is that a lot of these issues are coming home to roost. People really are becoming more aware of the damage done by trade policy."
