[img_assist|nid=17745|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=225|height=300]I attended Jeremy Scahill's talk in the Forum series at UW Eau Claire last night. As always, his speech was very informative, and particularly focused on his recent experience in Afghanistan, and why the current US military policy there is failing, and only building more enemies in the country.  His recent article in The Nation explains how our raids in Afghanistan are making it impossible to conduct any negotiation, and is a must read for anyone interested in our foreign policy, and the possiblity of peace.

I had an  extremely pleasant conversation with Jeremy in a reception before his speech, which covered Wisconsin politics, Russ Feingold's defeat, his speeches at Fighting Bob Fest, what it was like in Afghanistan, and much more.  Among the other things I found out is that he occasionally reads Uppity Wisconsin, which I guess isn't a huge surprise since he is originally from Milwaukee.

As soon as YouTube stops churning around on the file, I will post a video clip from his informal remarks at the reception.
