In an overlooked interview on March 18, State Senator Rob Cowles told WHBY:
Could I have gone along, with what uhh... when they decided to do the 5-8 and the 12-6, I could have gone all with that, no problem, my goal was to capture the money.
The "5-8" and "12-6" are references to the 5.8% and 12.6% reductions agreed to by the state employee unions.
In addition, in an interview with the #2d7ea9">Green Bay Press-Gazette#2d7ea9"> , prior to infamous vote to kill collective bargainin, the paper described Cowles as "lamenting" the focus on collective bargaining and that the Governor had already gotten all the necessary fiscal concessions from the union.
Cowles statement makes an interesting case for the rumor that Republicans will attempt to pass a watered-down version of their draconian bill to kill collective bargaining, which they passed shortly before Cowles taped this interview.
